Meeting with Samahan ng Katutubong Tagbanua ng Barangay Marcilla (SKTBM)- July 11, 2016 A total of 33 members attended the meeting at the residence of the Vice-Chairman of SKTBM, Mr. Inocencio Caabay, in Barangay Marcilla, Coron. The meeting’s objective is to update the group about the cost study for seven tons of dried E. spinosum seaweeds stocks, the role of the group and the role of Culion Foundation, Inc. (CFI).
For the 7 tons of dried seaweeds ready for trading, issues and concerns were raised; one, that these seaweeds were stocked long enough that the value had depreciated and two, was miscommunication/misunderstanding between SKTBM officers and project manager. The cost studies for the said 7 tons stock of seaweeds were presented providing them possible options to profit and the risk and advantages of each. It was recommended that a special meeting should be scheduled to discuss these options and decide as soon as possible. SKTBM has internal issues on the structure and management that makes it loose and needs to be addressed.
